As we enter merry yuletide, the time of celebration, the time of family gatherings, gifting, feasting, festivities, and most notably ‘a time for gratitude.’ There is a great need to remember the essence of the season, the reason for the celebration, which is, gratitude.
We sometimes ignore sincere gratitude to God in this grand celebration, and this makes Christmas incomplete, do we pause at times to appreciate the things we have?
As we know, Christmas comes at the end of the year, which is a perfect time to reflect on happenings in the year-round. For a businessman, it’s a time to look back at the progress of his business. As a student, you look back to years to compare and see if there has been an increase in your academic pursuit. For graduates in different parts of the world, a time to access his level of attainment in building experience over the year, all these people should see Christmas as a time to reflect, observe and most especially be thankful for the moves made thus far.
As a family gathered together or scattered far abroad, as a child grateful for his parents, parents who watch the progress of their children, for our friends whom we have been with for times past and yet are together, for our relationships; these are things to show gratitude for at this beautiful season.
Nations generally should see Christmas as a time for appreciation for peace, progress, prosperity, and economic growth.
Christmas comes with emotions for every person; it’s a miracle to many. It might just bring bad memories to some other but, whatever experience your Christmas brings, let’s choose to make it a time for gratitude. It is better to be grateful because, through the dark clouds, it is necessary to set your eyes to see the silver linings, to see the joys in the time, and to know that your growth and progress have better chances after this yuletide.
